Free Geo Maps (forum header)

Post by boobook on Thu 05 Oct 2017, 5:14 am

I have used this great facility on numerous occasions, but having been out of action for a little while when I went to the site this week something new led me to "AUSGIN Geoscience Portal"
I can see the Australia map is broken up into the Geo sheets, but how do I access the old Geo sheets that I am familiar with.
Can some one please assist an old befuddled prospector?
Many thanks.

Hi Mike
the mongrels have changed things. I spent a good hour searching the site but I can't find them. I'm sure they are there somewhere.
surely they have an archived section. might have to have another look. lets hope someone on here knows where they are.
cheers
Cliff

Hi Boys,

The top left of screen click on 250k maps

On the google earth page you will see 3 icons on the left hs left click the lower one i then left click on the mosaic you would like to go to {map}

The top right of screen has a 4line symbol click this to get to help pages

The best thing about this programme is i don't need Silverlight to use it as my computer wont support Silverlight anymore

Cheers,Ron

Many thanks Cliff and Flouro.
A little understanding is creeping in, who would have thought what that lined symbol represented? I spent all my time on the larger L/H panel which achieved very little.
Will print the user guide which is the key to it all (ink required in printer!) so hopefully all will be revealed.
Thanks again blokes.

Peter,Peter,

I'll try, AGP)left hand corner) and 3 striped symbol rh corner

click 250k box and check lh column to see if green tick is on 250k maps- go to geological maps and click the plus sign on the rhs- the bottom one should have a green tick - if it doesn't click on the lhs blue arrow and get the drop down and click on add data- this should bring up mosaic tiles(the google earth map should have lines ruled over it to form squares)

To the right of the 250k sign at top of page also in orange heading block you will see an down arrow click this and you will get drop down menu- select google earth or hybrid or whichever

You should now have GE with mosaic tiles over it-on left hs of GE map the bottom three symbols select the I for information one and then click on which mosaic you would like to visit and this will allow you to select either 125 or 250 map - up pops the map and click on map and expands to full size geo map

I cannot find the heading you have put up and the three line symbol if clicked on gives you the how to on everything

Cheers, Ron

Peter,
You need to go to the heading of forum and click on download free geo maps- not B/N 's heading that he put up- totally different

Ron

I wondered where you got your heading from scratch
