If you didn't attend, you missed a great gathering of fellow detectorists and lease holders, a couple of informative presentations by various guest speakers and a great social night/barbeque hosted by St Barbara mines at the heritage listed Hoover House.
The membership prize, a GPX5000 was won by John Gregory of the South West Branch.
137 people attended the function and the raffle was the feature of the night, as it usually is, with prizes such as $2500 worth of travel, gold smelting kits, tool box sets, trail cams, picks, 12v compressors and all sorts of other camping and prospecting items.
St Barbara also came to the party with agreements to allow detecting on several thousand acres of leases within 30km of Leonora.

If your not a member of APLA, and you detect or are a lease holder, you should join up. If not for the benefits of the social aspect, then for the $20m Public Liability Insurance for when you are detecting. APLA represents and defends the rights of prospectors/lease holders in WA so that we don't end up like NSW.
