Locate WA KML

Post by Steve D on Fri 05 Feb 2016, 10:21 am

Hi all
Has anyone any idea why the Locate WA KML file no longer works????
This was easily the best way to quickly see what land was available etc. But it no longer works and all you get is a request to sign in to an account. What account is not stated.
This system was brilliant in its simplicity but it now looks as if it will be necessary now to find an easy way to display the tenement overlay on google earth.
cheers
steve

Have just called Landgate. The Locate kml file will no longer work/open with G/Earth, it ceased the end of January this year.
seems it will now only open in your web browser.

Yeah I've had the same problem. I ended up going into Tengraph but it's a lot harder to navigate.

You can download from: http://geodownloads.dmp.wa.gov.au/datacentre/datacentreDb.asp

Choose 'Mineral Information > Tenements Live and Pending'

Download then open from Google Earth.

Hi Steve, here is the new version of locate - it has its own imagery layers and doesn't interface with GE. Top left of screen is the zoom buttons, top right of the screen is layers icon, click on it and a menu appears to select layers such as tenements and mineral resources. I much prefer the old GE version but it is still useful and has a few added features.

If you are looking for tenements with a satellite overlay then try Landtracker V1.97 its what i use and you can copy tenement outlines to GPX file.
