Post by Peaky on Fri 22 May 2015, 2:01 pm

So I have just picked up my new toy  cheers
Going to test it on the long weekend with targets that the 7000 picks up  Shocked  Shocked
Will be good to see if there is a big gain in the coil  QK;

TBH, I feel a little skeptical on such things, Don't misunderstand, it's great coiltek released the coil, and it looks funky as and i do need a 14" round.
Though i don't see how this can be a huge leap forward in comparisons to say a Nugget finder 14" round, the specs only say a new configuration, but i guarantee its a much of a muchness when it comes to coil windings....

Still, i like the new camo colour scheme...

I think CT say they are using a new type of coil wire, braided. Maybe thats what makes it better.
Only testing will tell the tale and something has to be done to keep the 4500 and 5000 in the game if the 7000 is going to be the bees knees.

Gents

I will give you the low down after I have used it next weekend

I will try and get some Video of un-dug targets with the 7000 and then with the 5000 and 4000 with the " New Coil "

Will be a good test I think

Good stuff Mr Peaky.
Something I've noticed since the release of the 7 is a big lack of comparison between detectors.
It'll be interesting to see how you go.
cheers
Cliffs

PS. bit late now since I got the 7000   Razz

Cliff

I can tell you last time we were out we did test some targets that the 7000 picked up
The SDC2300 pinged the target no problem
The 4500 with a 14"X9" cranked to 14 Pinged them
The 5000 with the 11" cranked to 19 did not pick it up enough to stop you

I didn't get video that time but I will take the time and do It this time

Peaky, was the 45 in enhance and the 5000 in fine gold ?
If so that'll be why the 5 missed it, fine gold ain't as good as enhance on deeper bits, it's a faster pulse rate for pingin shallow gold and enhance is a longer pulse for deeper targets.

Now you'll keep em honest Peaky!!

Haven't had a chance to christen mine yet, but the signal response is supposed to be way better like an 8" coil (for a 14", that's something and about 2"  better in depth and quieter than Coiltek's standard 14" and can handle a higher gain as well as be used in saltier ground than the Zed) may just save you $10,700 lwkgthgt

Pete

Yep was in Fine Gold

I will play with the settings on the 5000 and see what works best

The gold we were testing it on was only 4-5 inches deep so not deep gold just small

all the best with the new coil peaky, by all reports she'd be a good'n.
interesting how it holds up against the 7000 and SDC.
hope you boys have a great weekend up there, i'll be spending the weekend sorting out a box for those battery's ya gave me and getting that all set up.
i still haven't sorted the 40e yet, something else i better get onto although it will be around 6 weeks before i get out again, just took on a couple 2 story's house's one after the other and have a time frame to get the jobs done. usual b.s under the pump haha.

peaky man, that testing with the 5000 was with the 14x9 on. that's when you was fiddling with it and cranked it up to 19 gain, but your right it wouldn't have stopped you and it was that unstable you couldn't swing like that.
but i still didn't get a response form those targets with the 11inch in fine gold running at a more stable set up, which i thought was unusual as I've found gold smaller then those targets with the same set up before. the other 5 with a sadie got a weak signal on some of those targets but not all by memory.

I've thought a bit about that trip, 2x5000's 1x4500 1x7000 and a sdc used. and the 2 5000's found approx 12% off the nuggets found and although the 5k's left a day earlier we got there a day before the 45 and sdc so similar times on the ground scratch scratch

anyhow have a great trip fella's, weather looks beautiful up there

Jase

You are right

I have a feeling the PI detectors struggle with the type of gold in that place
If we had a Gold bug I recon it would have got them

I remember a speci that I found one night there with Crazy was only just a signal.
It was on the surface and I could see the gold.
I have a pic at work so I will post it tomorrow

yeah you would think that speci would scream on the surface, a bit of gold in it.

the 1 speci i got that trip was on the surface but barely could see the gold, thought it was a hot rock till i gave it a bit off a spit n shine.
it screamed and had virtually 1g in it.
still lot's more gold to be had at that spot i think
