woody's mods

Post by martinjsto on Thu 09 Apr 2015, 9:50 am

so what do people think of woody's mods. he has a anti interference filter that seems to do a great job. getting rid of EMI and electronic interference will certainly result in more depth and gold.

Im thinkin of gettin one Martin for the exact reasons you have said
Sh!t i'd wave a poop on a stick if it got me gold cheers Razz  Razz

Places like over here where you cant get away from EMI even at night, could be especially good.

6 million Years ago when i used to work the Golden triangle fields Laughing  my son and me cracked onto some great gold.
when the Anti-interference coils first came out, we went over our maps and circled all the diggins where power lines
ran over the top or very near by, we'd just mark all the spots on the map and do the circuit and clean up.
That method would be even more deadly with a Mono coil and Woody's gadget instead of a AI coil Twisted Evil

That is - If it works as described scratch

I've often thought about sending my old Extreme to woody but have held off.
Just recently bought a B&Z booster with external speaker to try first as a mate of mine wants to have a go at detecting.
I'll get him to find all the junk Razz  and I'll follow with a 7000  lol!

Just saw this on another forum, could be a simple reason for its lack of filtering
in this particular case, maybe his Detector Mods were a backyardy job and incompatible with the unit, or his coil shielding is corrupt scratch  Dunno
I have detected exactly where this poster has tested the unit so i know exactly the EMI amount he had to deal with, at that spot ya couldnt run anything except a
DD in cancel or a CT Anti-interference coil which i did.
You could run a 8" mono but it drove me nuts in 5 minutes coz i new i was missin gold real easy.
[Quote]
"Used the new filter on the goldfields today for 6 hrs and didn't get the result i was looking for, yes I think there was a very slight improvement but not very much at all, also tried it on the way out at the bad spot I mentioned before and there was no difference between the filter being plugged in or not.
Please note my machine is a modified GP 3500 with extra timings and a front end gain and is comparable to a 4500 and was running an 8" mono coil.
Others may get better results on other detectors but for me it didn't do much
Cheers"

My hand is still outta my wallet on this one yet

I have one of these units, have tried it a few times on my 5000 and have yet to notice any difference, have a few places still to be tried but am not convinced I have gained anything at all for the expense, time will tell
Happy hunting guys

PS. maybe amber can be a problem

The problem I see with a lot of these performance reviews ,not only with woodys stuff but other coils and detectors ,is that gold prospecting is like fishing 10% of the fisherman or prospectors get 90% of the gold or fish ,and someone who makes a statement about how something performs could be an absolute dingbat but everyone says it must be gospel ,it would be good to one of woodys modded detectors and do some proper trials to prove once and for all if they work or not .Because if I found a mod that improved my gold finds ,I sure wouldn't tell everybody about it .
