thanks for the report Ray, no lightning spikes is great news considering the conditions you were in. its going to be tough this year, now what do i use, the SDC and pick up subgramers but pay for the fuel, stick with the 5k to find the patch or let rip with the 7k dreaming of the multi oz'er its going to find once i walk over it. decisions decisions.

Thanks for the first hand feedback Ray, I would be real interested to know how it feels etc with the harness setup and particularly to know if you could still use a hipstick with it. Looking at the pics it would seem that the big screen on the end of the handle would interfere?.

Ray,

You are worth a medal for bravery! I'm serious. Going out there in an electrical storm with a metal detector - yer wife is correct in her assessment. But well done it was good reading. A pity you didn't find a bit. Like Stingray says, I'd like to know if you can use a hipstick with it as both my shoulders are buggered and that's a heavy machine. But I'm sure the ingenuity of prospectors will find a way of getting a hipstick onto it. I wish I could've gotten up there.

JP has confirmed he uses his standard combo Wedgetail, camel back/bungee/hipstick etc

Good news about EMI, looking forward to more first hand field reports. Thanks oneday. And am very intrested in seeing the difference between the 5000 with the 18" and the 7000. The 5000 with the 18" is still deadly on the smaller shalow bits.
