were will it all end??

Post by Guest on Sat 14 Feb 2015, 5:01 pm

I was just thinking--which isn't a rare occurrence....3 or 4 blokes in a car going bush---4 detectors and all yah gear...a shed load of crack ass wipes running around the town then u would want very good insurance and anti thief devices plus a very good safe nailed down in the back of yah car...

maybe theres an opening for someone to make a very strong detector safe suitable for a vehicle.

At least with the troopy I can substitute the rifle compartment for the detector which will be out of peoples temptation.

I must admit I have been blasé about detectors in my vehicle but I certainly wouldn't be trying to advertise the fact that I have a machine worth X amount laying there for anyone to see.

Actually the more I think about it --the best place for a cabinet might be on the roof of my car..at least if the sniffer is up there theres a chance he will fall.

Having detectors stolen isn't a nice feeling..

Good idea. And you would think that someone on the roof of a troopy bashing the crap outa a lock or steel box would ring warning bells for anyone walking past and maybe they would either do something, take a photo or even ring the coppers, depending where it was happening.

Only problem i can see with that is it might get a bit hot for the electronics if left in a sealed box in the direct Pilbara sun ?

I was mainly referring to winter--must be water proof as well.

if u go in the summer then most people only do a day trip so not too much of a drama...

Ray,
The detector has a serial number and anyone who buys a second hand detector should always check with minelab to see if it's listed as stolen, likewise if your detector is stolen tell minelab about it
If the serial number is missing don't buy it !

You would think that minelab could have built a GPS tracker within the detector linked to the owners PC or smart phone or via minelab who could activate it when given a police report number....just a thought

surely there must be a smart tracker on flea bay that u can activate and consequently track via smart phone or puter..

if they come out with a protective case then u aint goin to see jack.
However if u see it on the shaft or somewere that is exposed then bobs yah uncle..

The way new detectors are coming out you might need a box like the tardis where it's a bit bigger on the inside although some of us tend to go for the little ones. lol!

Ray,

About food. I've worked a fair bit across SE Asia and there is only one country from which I would ever buy foodstuffs and that's Thailand. The place has been a food exporter for 30 years and it has high standards that it protects fiercely.

But if I see "Product of,,,,,,,,,,,China, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Cambodia", I put the can back on the shelf, thank you very much.
