Strange Looking Pyrite Balls

Post by Guest on Fri 13 Jan 2012, 6:53 pm

Have any other members found or every seen any of these before ?

These 3 Pyrite balls or nodules are from up nth of WA, they are very heavy for the size
and where found in a puggy light colored clay.
I've no idea if they are worth much.
Any thoughts ? or have yous come across these before while out bush.

Sorry for the sh#t pics, they where scanned.

Interesting, I can't say I've ever seen like them. Closest thing I can remember is iron balls from the Dampier pellet plant and that was years ago. And looked nothing like that.

Difficult to identify and size with your scans.
Are you sure they are pyrites?
Maybe lead?

Here is a link for various shot gun sized pellets.

I found a heap of them, they range from small marbles to golf ball size. Collected a few kilo. Mine were found within 30 km of " the wilsons." near Leonora WA.
